This article goes along with Episode 18 of the AI Client Attraction Podcast, where I share why your social media bio matters and a simple way to use ChatGPT to help you write one that's clear, natural, and sounds like you.

Your social media bio might seem like a small part of your marketing, but think about what happens when someone discovers you for the first time.

They see one of your posts, click over to your profile, and then they want to know:

Who is she, what does she do, and can she help me?

Your bio should make that easy to understand.

Your Bio Doesn't Need to Sound Fancy

One of the biggest mistakes I see coaches make is trying to make their bio sound clever or inspirational.

Something like:

Helping women step into their purpose and create the life they deserve.

It sounds nice, but what does that actually mean?

A potential client should be able to read your bio and quickly understand who you help and what you help them with.

Clear beats clever every time.

Make Sure It Sounds Like You

When I first started coaching, my bio said:

“Helping women make money doing what they love.”

There wasn't necessarily anything wrong with it.

But it could have belonged to almost anyone.

As I became clearer about who I wanted to help and what I wanted to be known for, my messaging became clearer too.

Your bio should sound like something you would actually say if someone asked, “So, what do you do?”

Let ChatGPT Help You Write It

If you're staring at that little bio box and have no idea what to write, this is a great place to use ChatGPT.

Try giving it this prompt:

Help me write a short social media bio for my coaching business. I'm a [type of coach] who helps [who you help] with [what you help them do]. I want my bio to sound warm, conversational, clear, and natural. Give me 5 options.

Then look at what it gives you.

Don't automatically copy and paste your favorite.

Change the wording. Take out anything you wouldn't normally say. Combine parts of two different versions if you want to.

Use ChatGPT to help you get started, then make the bio yours.

One Last Check

Once you've written your bio, read it out loud.

Does it sound like you?

Is it clear who you help?

Can someone understand what you do without having to figure it out?

If the answer is yes, you're on the right track.

Your bio doesn't need to tell someone everything about your coaching business.

It just needs to give the right person a reason to learn more
